Haumoana Ratepayers Association meeting - 9 March 2010

Minutes of monthly meeting held 9th March 2010

Held at Gannets Bar, Haumoana - meeting opened at 7.34pm
Present: Wendy Van Hooijdonk, Mel Fowler, Trudi Botha, Andy Heyward
Apologies: Ian Chapman, Annvalon Chapman, Rod Heaps, Fiona Rainbow
Minutes from last meeting moved by Mel and seconded by Andy
Incoming Correspondence: Nil
General Business:
Andy reported on the meeting about the Early Warning System for Haumoana, Te Awanga, Clifton and Cape Kidnappers. Meeting was set up by the Hastings District Council and Civil Defence to come up with a strategy for creating a warning system as no official system exists at present. Outcome of meeting was to form a group to investigate and action this. Owen and Martin are part of this group and will keep us informed of the progress.

Mel enquired about the database and where it is at. No answer to this question was given.

Andy reported on the WOW group meeting at Te Awanga Hall. Meeting was an update to the communities of where the group is so far and what the next stage is.

Beach Clean Up: We had planned for a cleanup on Sunday May 31st. In light of Hastings District Council planning a beach clean up for Saturday 13th March we agreed to put our energy into assisting with the council day instead of organising our own.
Mel had rung Jaqui at HDC about painting a mural on the domain toilet. Jaqui said that there is a focus of doing more in the Haumoana Community.
We expressed the opinion that we need to be better informed of what Council is planning for Haumoana so we can assist and not double up on projects.
Mel is to approach her on the Beach Cleanup day and invite her to a ratepayers meeting to talk about what is planned and how we can work together.

Mid-Winter Bonfire: Bonfire is set for 20th June 2010. Mel reported a resident had suggested to Rex that it would be good to do a surfcasting competition and maybe combine it with the mid-winter bonfire. Need to ask Rex who suggested the idea and who could donate prizes for the comp. Suggested that entrants pay a fee to enter competition.

Whakatu and Mill Rd Intersecction: Mel said that the Traffic Engineering report would theoretically be done by end of March 2010

Andy presented a box of chocolates on behalf of the Ratepayers Association to Trudi to thank her for her services as a secretary and wish her well with her moving house to a new community.

Meeting closed at 8.13pm
Next Meeting is Tuesday 13th April, 7.30pm, Gannets Bar, Haumoana.
