General Business:
Rex has asked that he meeting be limited to half an hour as there is a meeting at the Te Awanga Hall about the signage. He asked if we want to meet with the Wow group to join in the discussion at that meeting. Generally agreed that it was a good idea.
Mid-Winter Bonfire: Rex has said that he may not be available on the weekend for the bonfire. A quick reshuffle of jobs and Ian has said he will be in charge of getting the BBQ and doing the shopping. Will need to get the chequebook off Mel and find out what is needed while Mel is away in UK for 5 weeks.
Owen has said that he can get a few pallets from his work, he will collect them on a trailer and drop them at the groyne on Friday night or Saturday morning. Andy has said he will collect some driftwood on Saturday or Sunday morning, Fiona said she can help with collecting wood.
Ian is co-ordinating the day and will man the BBQ, Rod and Fiona will judge the sculpture competition. Andy, Rod and possibly FIona are available on Monday for a clean up. Need to make sure all the nails are collected, Owen said he may have a large magnet he could use to collect the nails. Andy has a black bin to be used for rubbish.
Owen will make a sign at the entrance to Haumoana. Andy has made posters and put them up at the shops. Also promoted on the Haumoana.co.nz website and Ratepayers facebook page.
Fiona wants to note her opposition to supplying and selling mulled wine at the bonfire. Seconded by Andy. She notes that it is a community event run by the ratepayers and we don’t have a licence to sell alcohol. She said that authorities would love to make an example of Haumoana. We can run the event without suppling mulled wine to the public. Rex said that at most we will get a warning. Ian said he will take responsibility for any problems.
Roundabout: Rod reported that Melanie had her submission heard. The submission was to raise the issue of the intersection at Mill Road and Richmond Road. The Roading Manager is going to look seriously at the issue and see what can be done.
Community Response Plan: Owen is on the working group and reported that they are close to having a document showing the hazard areas and evacuation points for the coastal area. Discussions about the warning systems is progressing. An expert from Wellington is due to come up and discuss options with the group. Owen also said that he is the local welfare officer for Civil Defence.
Meeting closed at 8.00pm and moved to the Te Awanga Hall to discuss the signage at the entrances to Haumoana.
Next Meeting is Tuesday 13th July, 7.30pm, Gannets Bar, Haumoana.
